My Childhood BFF

This post is long overdue!

I wanna do shout outs and dedications as and when I feel compelled to. So, a few weeks ago there was a news story about a teacher that smacked a black girl across the face in class. A lot transpired as one followed that story and for me it brought back memories of my childhood that I would much rather forget.
This got me thinking about the people who were there for me, who were able to nurse me to wellness when I was going through abuse. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the story below already but I wanted to share it here also. @meujwara is my Instagram and twitter handle, just FYI.

I posted her in my IG story and touched a little bit on my 7 years of hell(I mean top notch education).
Her name is Sphindile Msane, she is a gifted vocalist (google iThemba LamaKhatholika). She is a kind and caring person. An extrovert with a heart of gold.
She is a child of God (a born again mzalwane), I only wish I could be brave like her.
She is out here saving souls.

She was my shield for the entire duration of our sisterly friendship.
I honestly cannot remember how we became friends, all I remember is that we were inseparable.
I always had my elbow on her shoulder. One time I cracked a boiled egg on her forehead (true story!).
We always celebrated each other's birthdays together, just the two of us under those big blue gum trees at St Nivard's Combined Primary School.
She was always neat, clean and on point, the same cannot be said about me unfortunately.
I remember, she always had those colorful soft facial tissues in her pockets...

She would start hymns at assembly and save us all a beating. If she was absent from school, we all just knew that we had beatings coming our way, because nobody else was brave enough to start songs in front of the whole school.
Our circle gradually grew as we entered senior primary.

It was a rough time for me, from verbal abuse because of my weight and skin tone (mostly from teachers) to being denied the opportunity to participate in the Olympiads even though we qualified (simply because we didn't look the part, we attended school barefooted... A story for another day), to being asked to go from class to class to show teachers my infected burn wounds and to the minor and major physical assaults I endured at that God-forsaken school.

This girl was there by my side. Even when a 15 year old classmate had threatened to beat our 10yr old asses up after school, we ran from her together.
What was even sweeter is that even on weekends, we would see each other at church. On occasion we would have church outings, oh those were some fun times.
I just wanted to honor my dear friend today and thank her for being who she is and for allowing herself to be used by God.

Fascinated by Christmas decorations!

I must say that thee best part of the festive season for me was all the wonderful Christmas decorations and lights!
I had wanted to share these on this blog earlier but I was not in the right space to do it...A topic for another blog post!

The Pavillion Shopping Centre in Westville, Durban did not disappoint! The bows did it for me!

These cute glasses were at St John's Centre, the optometrist there had the best decorations in the whole of Pinetown. I did the legwork, trust me!

King Shaka International Airport!!!

Bursting with Zulu pride, the decorations at my hometown airport were the best I have ever seen. This is a bold statement and I stand fully behind it.
Zulu-pride aside, just look at how gorgeous it was:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit" Mt 5

'Blessed are the poor in spirit' is a beatitude that I never understood until I experienced spiritual poverty. Music always seems to have that magical power of pulling me out of prayerlessness. I am so glad that @sibomkhize posted a video of this song yesterday. It was the spark I needed. God is very strategic. Nothing is by mistake. Jesu lidwala by @lusanda_beja is a tool, sent directly from God to lead me back to Him. "Singashonaphi, sibalekelephi? Akekho omunye, sozabikho ofana naye. Jesu lidwala laphakade!"
How special do I feel, that God (busy as He is) takes the time to send reminders to us. How fortunate to be used by God to gather the harvest.
I thank you Lord for all of it. Everything. Only you know the master plan. I surrender all to you. #callingonGodthealmighty #thankyouJesus #HelpmeDearGod

The song/video that God used to send me a message. "Jesu ulidwala laphakade" by Lusanda Beja.

I live here now! So can you. Look up Glenread Sleepover - Penthouse flat with a view on Airbnb

First off, I wanna thank @ceceolisa for inspiring me to celebrate this huge accomplishment!
My first flat. A penthouse flat with a spectacular view. It has 5 bedrooms and I only need 1, so the rest are open for rentals, you may have seen the ad on Instagram a while back: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlFsMbrBlqcNwTLZwlLJ3vK8wuQTG249788Xok0/
Let me give you a quick photo tour
I opted for this dining room set, simply because I stay with university students who tend to break things (don't tell them I said this about them - they are good kids and i love and appreciate them), so I couldn't have expensive furniture or things that can break easily. The Grapefruits on the table are from Mnakile Zwane and the orchid from my sister Nonjabulo Eensue.
A view from outside the flat. This place has helped me overcome my fear of heights.

The balcony, my pride and joy! It is so big. It is definitely bigger than my previous rented apartment. I enjoy chilling out here. Sometimes I just sit and pray or clear my head just nje.

The "before picture" of the lounge area. A lot has happened since moving into this place in mid-July

This is where I throw down!

The laundry room has got to be my favourite room in this whole house. I get my things clean and smelling good right here.

So I recently registered my property on Airbnb. check it out: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/30459590?s=51

Getting real for just a few minutes. #BeingBlessed

So yesterday I felt overcome with gratitude. At this time of the year, I usually just sit and reflect on the kind of year I have had. A lot of good happened this year.
So I did a long Instagram post, which ended up being about Dave. I guess I gave him props, which he so deserves.

This is what I posted on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/BrS12u1H4GDjZGDYUFGbJonsQoxfGrL14uRYt00/
I am letting the universe and the powers that be know that I am grateful. I appreciate all that I have gone through, especially this year. I am especially grateful for the people that have stuck by me through it all. Dave has been an angel and a catalyst for my growth. I would love to hate him sometimes but he has shown me that life can be fun and serious at the same time. He has shown me that people can love and grossly misunderstand each other all at the same time. That you can have your space and still enjoy someone's company. That you can come back from whatever catastrophic situation you may find yourself in. That you can give advice and push people to reach their goals but not impose yourself on them when they reach there. "Umbeki wenkosi akabusi nayo" was just a saying before the Dave experience but he was able to demonstrate this to me.
Finally what I appreciate the most is the many lessons I have learned in my trying times. 2018 has been a year of growth.
When the year started I declared war on the devil and boy did he bring it! I 'm standing, with unshaken faith in God the almighty one. From now on I will celebrate and praise God regardless of the minor hiccups along the way. I laugh at the word 'minor'.
God bless you for reading this long epistle, St Paul has got nothing on me shem. #blessed #highlyfavoured #GodLovesMe #ILoveGod #grateful #gratitudeiskey #gratitude #lessonslearned #thankGod

I also did a youtube post. Listen, I'm on top of this thing!!! The spirit of the Lord was upon me chile. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv5wwrKc8Yc
I am coming to a realization that I am blessed. I am the type of person who focuses on getting things right and winning but that's not how God operates. You can totally miss your blessings because they dont come wrapped up in the kind or form that you desire and expect.

Starting from the bottom, there's only one direction I'm going. UP!
